Why Your Tanks Need Cleaned
Not cleaning your RV holding tanks can lead to unpleasant and costly consequences.
Here are some of the main issues you might face if you don’t have your tanks cleaned:
Sensor Malfunction: As you all RV owners know, RV holding tanks have sensors that indicate the levels of waste in your tanks. If these are not cleaned, waste can buildup and cause the sensors to malfunction, leading inaccurate readings. You can also potentially overfill your tanks due to these malfunctions.
Odors: Let’s face it - no one wants to deal with unpleasant odors in their RV. The most immediate and noticeable consequence of not cleaning your tanks is the development of foul odors. Waste materials and bacteria in the tanks create a strong smell that can permeate through your RV, making it an uncomfortable to be in.
Clogs and Blockages: The dreaded pyramid! Over time, waste can build up and solidify (we know, gross), leading to clogs and blockages in your tanks and plumbing system. This prevents proper drainage and will require a professional cleaning or repairs to resolve the issue. Why not take care of it with regular tank cleanings?
Damage to the tanks: Waste buildup and blockages can put extra pressure on your tanks and potentially lead to leaks or even tank ruptures. Repairing or replacing damaged tanks can be expensive and is time-consuming.
Reduced Longevity: Neglecting regular cleaning and maintenance can reduce the lifespan of your RV’s holding tanks. Regular care helps ensure that these components remain functional for a longer period, this will save you money in the long run.
Legal and Environmental Issues: Improperly maintaining the holding tanks can lead to accidental spills or leaks, which can be both environmentally harmful and legally problematic. Many places have strict regulations regarding the disposal of RV waste, and failing to comply can result in heavy fines and penalties.
Unpleasant Emptying Experiences: No one wants to deal with black tanks, and we completely understand. When it comes time to empty the tanks, built-up waste can make the process more difficult and messy. Regular cleaning helps ensure that emptying the tanks is a smoother process.
